Lost best and only friend

Hi people,

Hope you’re all good. I’d like to know if any of you have advice for dealing with losing my best and only friend. This happened over a year ago now but I’m still dealing with it as I haven’t found another friend since that time. I miss her so much. Now my only friend is my stuffed animal.

I have met a couple of people here and I’m so thankful for that but I still feel like this.

Please help me here as I’m afraid I won’t ever get over it Disappointed relieved

  • Hi Daisy,

I know you don't know me but I totally understand how you might feel and I'm so sorry you're feeling like this. It's so hard losing someone you were so close to and it can make you nervous to start getting close to people again. It's sad as you will probably miss her for a long time but I'm certain you will find someone, we often find friends in the strangest of places. Sometimes even people we weren't that close to years ago we get close to in the future because people are constantly changing and their interests might begin to line up with yours or you might meet someone new who you just instantly click with because of a shared interest for example. I know someone who made a friend through looking at the same genre of books in a bookstore so anything is possible! As much as I hate social media if I'm honest, it can be a good way to connect with people especially those with similar interests to you. Sometimes friends come and go and it's obviously more painful when they're your best and only friend but it will get better, I promise. Maybe see if there are any groups going on in your local area? If that feels overwhelming do you have someone who could go with you? I wish I could make it feel better for you right now but it might just take a little time, you'll have good days and bad days and try to remember the good memories you have with them and know that you'll have times like that again, even if it's not with them. I'm sorry if I've not been very helpful and if you need someone to talk to I'm always here Slight smile sending you love xx
