It's a basic human "transaction" as described in the book I recommend in my bio.
Yes the reasons behind these ‘transactions’ are also covered in the book ‘A Field Guide to Earthlings: An Autistic View of Neurotypical Behaviour’. It’s a very good book, I would very much recommend it.
I was repeating inside my head, “ I’m bored, until you say something that interests me.”
I like this honest response but like you say I am not sure it would be received well by majority non autistic groups. In autistic groups, this direct reply would be very much encouraged but then again I don’t think we would find as many interactions boring because small talk is not part of our communication style. We love deep think and deep talk!
This is brilliant
That particular question does have a sensible answer. It's a basic human "transaction" as described in the book I recommend in my bio. It will be part of a sequence referred to in the book as a "game"...
Knowing why we do the silly stuff some of us do, is half of the battle, I believe. That little book has some of the answers, of that I can assure you.
I had the obviously kind remark from acquaintances , they said that I didn’t have to mask in front of them. I was repeating inside my head, “ I’m bored, until you say something that interests me.” Do they actually want me to unmask? Think not.
Funny! Why ask a question if you don’t want a genuine answer? (rhetorical question!)
Great idea for a thread - these are really good, so funny :-)
Just what I needed to cheer me up this evening xxx
If anyone is interested it's decorative muqarnas vaulting in the iwan entrance of Fatima Masumeh Shrine in Atabki Sahn, Qom, Iran.
No I didn't know that. I cheated and right clicked to search image with Google. It took me here https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:One_of_the_iwan_ceilings_of_Fatima_Masumeh_Shrine_in_atabki_sahn,_Qom,_Iran.jpg
Amazing picture. If anyone is interested it was a finalist in Picture of the Year 2020 and was selected as Picture of the Day on 28 January 2021.
Autistic infodump over
Oh I think I can guess what this is. It looks like wings with eyes so it could be a Biblically accurate angel.
