Clothing Sensitivity

I'm having one of those 'I don't want to wear anything' days. My skin gets hyper sensitive a lot of the time, probably anxiety, and today my left arm is hurting and feels really sensitive to touch. Which is making clothing hard work.

I had a jumper on and the material inside was too much for my arm, triggered the sensitivity in a big way. So I'm just hiding under my blanket now, which weirdly, isn't affecting it as bad.

It's the same with my feet, no socks at the moment, too sensitive so now my feet are cold lol.

  • I think you could be right about anxiety affecting the sensitivity. If my son is anxious about going to school he often has problems with the sensitivity of clothes.

I have some sensitivity and have never found wool comfortable. Even if I wear a cotton T shirt underneath I can still feel the fibres through. I wear cotton tops, long or three quarter length at this time of the year and cotton cardigans unless really cold, then wear acrylic. I don't like the closeness of many jumpers.

Cotton can be variable too. I wear cotton trousers or jeans ( different colours). I have two very soft cotton trousers for winter which are a looser fit and my favourite and some soft jeans which are close to going into holes. Some of my coloured jeans can be too prickly on some days.

Regarding socks, I wear men's socks, always cotton, mostly coloured as I have size 8 feet so I can get them bigger. I find after a while they shrink in the wash. I also have some that are thicker and have soft fluffy insides.

  • Talking of socks, am I the only one who turns them inside out to wear? To put the seams on the outside? I don’t know how most can stand it!
