Recently my Council have installed new lighting, which is meant to be better than the old neon lighting and less energy intensive; an orange glare is replaced by a white glow.
The new lamps are a lot taller than the older ones, and actually far more invasive.
I have black-out curtains, and, while previously they kept the glare out of my bedroom, the new lights flood my bedroom with light, at all hours of the night!!!.
I have endured a lot of stress recently, with the noise and disturbance caused by putting up these horrid new lights, only to find that I get no night-time because my bedroom has become a light torture chamber.
Other people are also not happy. My dad has complained, and has 'loaded the trowell pretty thick', as he put it, and down his road the Council have agreed to turn off the lights at midnight, and to put shields up. I am going to complain, too, so that they do the same where I live; otherwise they are breaking the environmental and health protection act of 2005.
I will also state that I have Aspergers, and am more sensitive to these things than most people, especially at night time, when I need to switch off.
Any advice for putting forth my complaint, and any rights I might have?
