Does autism qualify you for covid booster Jab in UK?

Anyone else been called for their autumn covid booster Jab. It says I'm eligible due to being over 50 or being in a vulnerable category. I'm under 50, so assuming that my recent Autism diagnosis must put me in the higher risk category? Anyone know if this is true? Or been called themselves even though under 50.

  • From my experience, it might be worth checking with your drs surgery first if that’s an option.

I was also invited, only to find when I got there, after successfully booking a slot, that I did not qualify and was subsequently sent on my way with very little in the way of explanation or comfort. It was highly embarrassing for me.

I ended up speaking to my surgery who confirmed I was not eligible and they were as confused as I was.

I have received 8 text invites, 2 emails and a letter since then. My surgery suggested contacting them every time I receive an invite in order to check, which is obviously not going to happen (making contact with them is such a huge deal to me and include hours, if not days, of preparation but they didn’t really seem to understand that aspect).

None of this is to say that you are not eligible, but rather to offer a word of caution based on my experience of a similar situation.
