I checked Curry's online, on Sunday evening, for noise-cancelling headphones. The prices shocked me. Plus, they're all either wireless or Bluetooth. I never had joy with either connection.
The objective is for my coach trip, to and from Manchester, in March. But, I could just get normal earphones at the ferry.
I can't tell if they're a gimmick altho I have been thinking about ear plugs for sleeping in (not foam ones) so could give them a try.
Ear defenders + moldable earplugs (+ whatever earphones you like if you want to listen to music) makes for a lovely quiet time. All very inexpensive.
They're basically a fancy kind of ear plug. I tried a pair because I'd heard such good things about them, but personally didn't notice much difference. I could still hear my washing machine just as clearly. It's possible that I hadn't got in them in right, or that they didn't fit properly. I couldn't work out what was the right size and there were 3 options.

Please if anyone could contribute and tell me what ear loops are? How are they different to ear plugs and why do they have a loop?
Hello!
I also have encountered this problem too, to help me when out and about or in the home I have purchased little "loop" earplugs that go in my ears and dampen sound around me - maybe they would work for you too? Sometimes I put them under my normal, "non-noise cancelling" headphones to block out the sound more.
Here is the product I mentioned:

My dad that those, in the family farm.
I could get one from the village hardware shop.
This is why I get the £5 things from the motorcycle races and then just put my in ear things underneath them. This sort of thing: www.screwfix.com/.../cat850332
