Tying shoe laces - both during childhood and adulthood

I have just received the new NAS magazine.  I happened to notice that the little boy on the cover has shoes that stay on using velcro straps.

By coincidence, I seem to recall wearing similar shoes myself when I was a child (under 10 years old approx), i.e. shoes that used velcro straps.

I am now an adult (36) and I wear boots with shoelaces, which I can tie in a bow without any problems.

However, I am wondering whether Autism or Dyspraxia (or a combination of both) was causing me difficulties tying up laces as a child?

Here is my question...

Of those of you who have Autism and/or Dyspraxia, did you have trouble tying up shoelaces in your childhood?  Did you wear shoes that used velcro straps instead of lace as fastening?  And as adults, do you still have difficulty tying shoelaces?
