Christmas madness

I really dont understand the point of Christmas shopping. Why does everyone go out and spend loads of money they probably dont have on useless stuff that other people probably dont even want? I went to the shopping centre yesterday expecting my usual quiet Monday there looking at my bookshop and instead it was masses and masses of people charging round everywhere. I got barged and my foot got stepped on. I could hear a conversation on someones phone discussing what presents to buy and it seemed obvious that he was buying stuff he knew people wouldnt want just for the sake of it. Why? As someone who rarely understands human behaviour I really dont see the point of any of it

Its left me scared to leave the house now until Christmas is over

  • I bought extra groceries last Friday so hopefully I can avoid going again until after Christmas. Other than having to give up my usual library visit next Wednesday as it's closed until after new year, that's the only change in routine in making for the holiday. I find Christmas is more tolerable if you ignore it completely.
