Asking for Reasonable Adjustments from my employer following late diagnosis

Hi folks.

So, I'm 30 years old, and for much of that period it feels like ive been pretending to cope in a world that wasnt quite fit with someone like me in mind.

I have been with my current employer for 6 years now. And the past year has been the most difficult for me - coiciding with my diagnosis I received just 2 weeks ago.

I have asked my employer for reasonable adjustments - namely the ability to home work when I want (other than when there is a reason for me to come into the office for a meeting etc). Unfortunately that request has been met with fierce opposition, which, to me and my logical mindset, makes zero sense given I have been performing my duties at home, without issue for almost 3 years now.

Opinions?

  • Your logical mindset makes complete sense especially how you have been doing it already for three years. Have you explained your reasoning for WFH? If you explain WHY you need it (which im guessing is that you are more productive at home because there's less sensory and social overload) that could help? Or maybe you have already done this. Its like they don't want you to work to the best of your abilities.
