Level of autism

Hi,

I was diagnosed and told im level 1 Autistic. On the internet it says the mildest form of autism but I feel I struggle with all aspects in my life. I did try and explain although I seem quite at times it's because I shut down in myself when anxious like during my assessment. I'm worried if means I'm just mild and don't need as much help or understanding or I should keep masking because people think I'm weird. Has anyone else found this?

Thank you.

  • My in laws have two great nephews with Autism. They say one who is five, is severe has he doesn’t speak, he doesn’t sleep well and has meltdowns. The other who is seven is not so severe as he can talk a little and they didn’t see him have a meltdown in the few hours they were with him. They say the boys  Mum who is diagnosed has it mildly as she runs a home, brings up a  famlily, can talk perfectly, has a job and a degree. How do they actually know their  level of severity?
