autism and trouble writing

Im still not sure if I have autism or not (still waiting for my appointment) but I was wondering if having trouble writing texts is a autism trait or not, since one of the traits of autism is trouble with communication. Ever since I can remember, writing has been incredibly hard for me. It wasn’t the calligraphy or the grammar that bothered but the actual content of the text. Sometimes no matter how hard I try, I just can’t think of anything to write. In school, it would take me days to write a single essay that I was supposed to write in a few hours.

In order to effectively write something, I need a very specific structure for the text (that I must use every time). It makes it a lot less creative but It was the way I found.

  • I can relate to you unless structure is there can't seem to get going.

  • I had ZERO imagination, as a boy, and based my writing on what I saw on TV.

Reading is a forced exercise, for me, as I am so easily distracted. Studying is difficult.

Perhaps, it's about the Teacher. My first English Teacher made us all feel stupid; we were no in the Grammar School, and she reinforced that. My GCSE English Teacher was far better. It suddenly clicked. I got a C, and was over the moon.

  • There's lots it could be related to this. I've got dyslexia that brings great and frustrating trouble with writing some times. I struggle actually getting words out and Juniper says some people with autism struggle with creating characters and stuff... I've got that problem to.

  • Organising thoughts and creating a fictitious narrative can be difficulties typically associate with Autistic-Neurowiring. These can be executive function difficulties. I have trouble with essays & was allowed to give oral reports when in school because of this.

There could be other things like dyslexia at play as well.
