How long until I receive referral letter?

My GP said she would refer me for an assessment 2 weeks ago. I haven’t received a letter or confirmation that I’m on a waiting list (the GP told me the wait would be approximately 12 months, up to 18 months). I’m wondering if I should receive a letter or something or whether I misunderstood my GP.

    Don’t be too disheartened, it varies massively from county to county. Your letter could be sooner. Give it a couple of months and then chase it up.

    Thank you Roy. Wow the waiting time for even a letter is crazy! I feel very impatient now that I’ve been waiting and it’s only been 2 weeks!

  • I got referred last December, my referral letter and forms  arrived in July along with another AQ50. The letter stated that the waiting time is approximately 2 years from when the forms are returned to the mental health team.
