Podcast to help parents with the minefield of schooling an autistic child.

There are often parents asking questions on schooling an autistic child. I listened to these podcasts last night, I never realised the hell that some parents go through in getting the right schooling for their child, from what I’ve listened to, mainstream schooling just isn’t suitable for all autistic children, if any. Schools just seem to want every child to be a round peg. Things like attendance seem to upset the school figures and Ofsted rating. Parents are being fined, it’s not that a child won’t go to school and is naughty, it’s the child can’t come. The environment gets to a point where the child is too damaged to carry on and shuts down. An Advocate who works in prisons explains that a lot of the young  people in prison aren’t bad people, the school system failed them. My own son was expelled at 14 years old and was often put in a cubicle in total isolation, he had various brushes with the law. He’s now 20 and it’s been realised that he is ADHD, his school years could have been so much better.
sorry to go on, if you do decide to listen  to the podcasts, the player seems to play them in the wrong order. They need playing by earliest broadcast first. This isn’t a link. Hope this helps someone.
