Post-traumatic stress/situational stress

Hi. I would really appreciate some ideas to help quickly tone down my rising anxiety/panic/fear levels. I have health issues and waiting for a scan/blood test to rule out cancer. I look after my elderly father at home, but during term time I am a mature student on campus. My father has a lot of health problems (but is oblivious /very unsupportive of mine). He was hospitalised overnight last week because an infection caused him to hallucinate and he was phoning me through the night. Neighbours kept contacting me and I was trying to sort matters out from a distance. My father was discharged as being OK but cannot understand the stress I have been under (it is ongoing stress as similar incidents have been very frequent and I have no siblings or support network.). Social work says there are arrangements to help my father (He does not want any as he would have to pay and would have to agree to them.) My GP cannot offer me any help but suggested I needed to care for myself more. When I say this to my father this electrified him and I received the backlash this afternoon. I cannot concentrate and feel sick. What can I do in the moment?

Thanks for any replies.
