DEFINITELY nothing wrong with you in this regard (feeling the loss of an animal friend more profoundly than your own human kin).  The souls we connect with come in many forms......and thank God for that, based on how rare it is for genuine people to find genuine friends.  Many (arguably most) of my best friends have more than two legs!

When my father passed, my attitude was: good riddance to the stupid violent thug.

Sometimes the loss of a pet hits hardest; as they provided unconditional love.

Maybe when you lost your farther you had lots of good friends who rallied round? And now you don’t? I imagine it’s easy to become dependent on a pet for company if you’re pretty isolated from human contact.
