Should I get a diagnosis?

Stuff like having the same interests my entire life and spending so many hours in them, having to be constantly moving( pacing a lot, moving my legs around a lot occasionally rocking back and forth, moving side to side when standing up, playing with my hair a lot, tapping, and fiddling with objects, and having sensitivity to sound are my main symptoms. I can’t make eye contact, I’ve only had one friend my entire life and I’m really introverted, I often take jokes too literal, i can’t express my feelings well and I have low empathy. Out of all the common symptoms, following as routine is the only I don’t care for since most of my activities are unpredictable and how long they should take.

Here are my scores from various tests:

AQ-10: 7
AQ: 37
RBQ-2A: 39
EQ: 7
RAADS-R: 149

SHOULD I TRY TO GET A DIAGNOSIS?

Parents
  • Autism does seem likely from what you’ve written. Make sure to write a list of your traits to give your GP and how they affect you, also include the list of test results with the positive score threshold as I’m sure many GPs will only know the AQ10 and possibly AQ50. Think as well about what you want from diagnosis, do you just want to understand better or are you seeking help? Unfortunately adult support can be pretty non existent in most areas of the country
