Name change while waiting for assessment

I recently changed my name with my GP. My new name is showing up correctly in NHS app. Right before I changed my name, my GP made a referral for me in my old name to the autism service. I received a letter from the autism service addressed to my old name, which says I should notify them if I change my GP or my address.

Do you think I should contact the autism service to let them know I changed my name? Or will it automatically update on their system at some point?

  • Worry not, I did the same thing before I had my assessment. They updated my NHS record, and when the referral finally came through I just mentioned the alteration to the clinician put in charge of my assessment and they shrugged and said, 'ok, as your Dr has approved it we will just update your name on our system, thank you'.
