GP will not give my son his medication

Thanks fo accepting me.

My son is 20 and he is autistic and have been getting back his medication before moving yo the UK. But the GP will not give him his medication until he goes through another diagnostic here in the UK.

I still order him his medications from abroad but its not enough to help and now he seems a threat to his younger ones.

How can i get help locally.

Thanks

  • It may depend on what the medication is, he may have been prescribed something in your country that is not licensed for use in the UK or a brand which isn’t sold here so the GP would like an assessment to see which of our medicines is best. We don’t usually medicate autism itself, but we give antidepressants to those in need. ADHD medication does require a formal diagnosis and is usually prescribed by a specialist. If his behaviour is escalating here and his previous dose isn’t helping it may be that he is having a reaction to moving here and the many changes involved
