Why aren't there services setup to better support people in this situation

Parents
  • I know this is contentious, because I empathise with your struggles which I share to some extent, but I don't think Asperger's (I know this is ASC now) is a disability, but a ability in many ways.

I think the reason it can be disabling is because of society, specifically NT mindsets and processes, that aren't accommodating.

For example, if every member of society adjusted their mindset, processes and businesses etc to suit us on the spectrum then I feel we would no longer be disabled.

Add to that the fact that I feel advanced sensibilities, sensitivity and special abilities, Inc hyperfocus, are skills that most NT can't replicate, then it is many NTs that are in fact less able than us, so do we then consider them to be disabled?

Society's small mind is the issue. Expanding consciousness is the cure, in my humble opinion.

This doesn't of course take into consideration those on the spectrum who are none verbal and have other communication problems etc
