numbers

i have always had this obsession with things being in even numbers and never really understood it.  my main interest is making playlists which must be in even numbers, if i have toast i have 2 pieces on plate even if i only want one, i put my shoes on and off twice before i lace them up, i count in even numbers in my head if im stressed.   if its not in even numbers it seems wrong .  wondered if anyone else has similar

  • Odd numbers for me.  I count things like steps when crossing the road or passing buildings, I like them to be divisible by 3 or a prime number but never odd.

  • Volume Control is always an even number, and would never ever be 13.

  • I couldn't agree more - its really comforting.  PS I get an average of 45 slices from a spring onion.  lol

  • I was trying to think of examples and that is one I do when slicing vegetables. That's what I like on here, finding out that others do things I do. Somehow I don't feel so odd then.

  • I was counting every slice of the knife whilst preparing vegetables this evening.  I count my steps when I walk.  Pointless, mindless - yet strangely compelling!

  • I often find myself counting things as I am doing something then stop when I realise because they don't need counting.

I prefer things in even numbers. I am not keen on prime numbers, always better if they can be divided by something.

I find birthdays with some numbers easier to remember than others. For example 25 is an easy number.

  • I have to have pretty much two of everything because I can't have things om an odd number it really bothers me.

  • I used to have a horror of the number 3 as a kid. Dunno why. Even more so of 9, because 3 x 3 is nine. It faded but no clue whatever as to why. Things that came in threes scared me ????

  • I count when I'm pouring liquid ! If I pour milk into a glass, I count. Same for filling the car with fuel or running at tap.  The numbers themselves have no obvious significance and I'm not trying to measure out time or volume

  • I completey forgot I ever did that until recently and then I suddenly remembered it!

I think part of my love of cricket is due to my love of numbers too. I find the numbers on a cricket scoreboard very mentally soothing. Things like 42-6 and 372-7. Its like a soothing balm that comes over my head

  • I have to have the volume on an even number.

  • That is so cool!

  • When I was a kid, the numbers were my friends. I invented a characther and personality for each number and I would talk to them and make up stories in my head of the adventures we all went on together

  • I have the same with toast and eggs- it always has to be 2 toast and 2 eggs. Even if I am only hungry for less. Though for me it is more about keeping things the same rather than a love for the number 2 . For other things the portion would not be 2. But I do love numbers as well :)

  • My son is like this, he has to have two of everything even if he only wants or needs one. Like if I give him a water bottle to drink he wont drink it until he has two of them and insists he must have two

  • I count may steps when I walk a lot of the time.  924 steps is half a mile for me.  I often walk 4-5 miles, a few times a week.  I do a lot of counting!

  • I have a ritual, to scratch one side and scratch the exact same position in the opposite end of my body.
