Baby on the way

So when I came out of the jobcentre today, my wife was waiting in the car and she told me she had started contractions. She is now on a ward in the hospital. Thing is our baby wasnt due for another month so it has come as quite a shock. We had nothing ready so I had to race around getting things ready

It also happened when I was in the middle of a near breakdown about the news i got in the jobcentre

The thing is, until she goes into the actual labour room I am not allowed in so i am at home now texting her not knowing when i will next see her. It could be an hour or it could be some time tomorrow when visiting hours start. The uncertainty is killing me as is the fact that I just want to be there with her holding her hand and not being able to be with her is breaking my heart

My parents have come over to help and to look after our little boy should I be called into the hospital. It is a huge comfort them being here, im not sure i would have coped without them. but they have never spent a night in our flat before so that is another change that im trying to process

There is a lot going on!

  • That’s very exciting and very wonderful! I’m sorry that you can’t be with your wife though - that must be very hard for you both. Try to take comfort though from the fact that very soon you will both be together - and you will be invaluable to her then! She will certainly need you! Great that your parents are there to help too - that’s massively important. It’s a long while since I had my babies and I envy you the journey that you’re about to go on! It’s a precious time - good luck! X
