Seasonal Dip

It's Autumn, now, happy Labour Day to those in US/Canada!

I'm defo feeling blues, this evening. The dark evenings make me melancholy. I'm such a big kid, I prefer the Spring and Summer.

Better get the Vitamin C, and Zinc, into me. Smiley

  • Yes, I've always been hyper sensitive to seasonal light and weather. I feel it kick in every october. I found vit D to keep energy levels up helps. Also, from oct to feb I have a little morning ritual. I ask an app or Alexa for sun rise and sun set times. From Oct I keep saying to myself: 'only x amount of weeks to the winter solstice, then it will get better'. Before you know it we get to 21st Dec and then I start calculating how many more minutes of extra day light we had again today...before you know it, it's Feb, the snow drops are out, hope is on the horizon and life seems bearable again.

Failing that you could try a week away midwinter to somewhere warmer (a winter week in Italy helps me) with longer days, or one of those UV lamps.

  • I like your idea of counting how long to winter solstice. I note when the days are getting longer but also at the moment as it gets darker. I don't like days with no sun. Today was ok as the sun came out between the rain.

I also look forward to spring bulbs, but last year my crocus took ages to come. I have snowdrops as well this year, so hopefully something appears early.

I am looking forward to cooler nights for sleeping though.
