Hello everyone,
I have a twin sister who is 32 years old. All my life since being little I have known something wasn’t quite right with her regarding understanding things at school and social situations / making friends. As we got older I went through school , got a job, moved out where my sister has continously struggled to hold a job down, make friends, understand conversations and generally function as an adult.
I have spoken with her directly a couple of years ago regarding my suspicions that she may be on the autistic spectrum, which would explain why she struggles with a lot of things especially her understanding, she has since been to the doctors and discussed this with them who told her they were putting her on a list to be assessed 2 years ago. Nothing has come of this since, she has since chased this up after I have asked her about it to which the doctors claim no knowledge. I can’t help but think she hasn’t communicated this well enough with the doctors or she’s misunderstood what the doctors said at her original appointment.
she’s my sister, I love her but I am worried about the future as my mum is nearly 60 and struggles with her behaviour at times. Any advice would be appreciated regarding diagnosis / local support I can talk to.
thanks in advance.
