I went to what I thought would be a very overwhelming event, but I found it almost relaxing, I don't understand

The other day I went to an exhibition called Colourscape with my 1.5 year old because a friend had gone with hers and said it was a great sensory experience and her kid loved it. It was a soft structure built in a park, lots of connected bubbles/pods made with different colours, so the sunlight coming through created these brightly coloured "rooms". They had musicians in one of the bubbles playing some drony dissonant music, almost creepy at times. My toddler absolutely loved it and kept running around from one colour bubble/room to another. I went there fully expecting to feel on edge or even really stressed, and for it to be an attack on all my senses, with lots of other people in a small-ish area as well. But to my surprise I found the experience really pleasant and almost... dare I say... relaxing? I'm so confused, I thought noise, lots of colours, and people would be triggering. But it was kind of the opposite.

Can any of you relate? I thought I had started to understand what could be a trigger and what could be a comfortable situation, but this is making me think I have no clue.

Below is an example of the view looking down several bubbles to give you an idea. Some of them were really bright, the red ones actually hurt my eyes.
