Finding out more detail

How do those of us diagnosed as on the spectrum Asd know of other more detailed conditions, were you also diagnosed with those characteristics as well?

Things like: alexithymia, echolalia, or PDA?

...do I need to seek further assessment to look for these things?

  • Oh yeah. Provided you can identify a credible from a spurious source - and we can 'cos we're Aspies and good at this research stuff- google is your best friend :-)

  • Great thanks for the note. I need to reread the report tbh. I also think, now I know, that I can be more conscious of the way I am and try to establish these things myself.

After all Dr. Google is the most available help I ever get Slight smile

  • A good profile report following your assessment should pick these phenomena out. Be aware that alexthymia (mentioned in my profile), echolalia (oooh I so have) and things like Synesthesia (also mentioned in my profile) are pertinent to your autism, but are not "conditions" which would get a "diagnosis". Nevertheless, if they were either in your profile report or you identify them yourself, they are well worth investigating to help you understand you better.

  • google up, autistic sources are more trustworthy for obvious reasons, like youtube channels makers, but they would speak only about it if it affects them

I'm sure you agree with a concept of self identification, so if you have it you know you have it.

I'm alexithymic and I found a nice video made by autistomatic  https://youtu.be/_MHm09yun2M, that gave me an idea for an alternative to masking method of hiding feelings that runs on automatic, and that is double bonus for AuDHDer.

I haven't found anything that's a revelation about echolalia or PDA, only simple relations
