Process and applying for PIP

My 19 year son was diagnosed aspergers a couple of years ago and has only recently been assigned a social worker. An assessment has been started which will then lead to a care assessment. The process is taking a long time (appointments have been cancelled by the social worker) and I was wondering whether we should apply for a PIP independently of this process or whether it will happen as part of the assessment if we just wait long enough. Nothing is really being explained.

  • he may not get pip at all. diagnosis of anything doesnt mean automatically run to the dole and get free money lmao
    the dole is very strict and even if you had your legs blown off if you so much as tried to get around that by getting artificial legs or a wheel chair they will say your doing fine without legs and dont need pip.... so think on how easy it is for them to refuse pip just because... your personality is different to other people? ...everyones personality is different lol

    No, he may not get PIP and will need to be assessed for that its not just a form - it means talking about difficult things.  Every few years have to a new assessment.  PIP is for independent living, clue in the name - not sure why you feel its funny, and autism isn't a personality thing, you should know that.

    it is.... you should know that.... its not a disease.... its a.... "personality disorder" .... so it is a personality thing, it isnt a disease, it isnt contagious, and it doesnt need curing or eradicating....
