Gatwick Airport Assistance

Has anyone had experience recently of flying from Gatwick using Easy Jet and using the special assistance scheme.  My son is 17 years old, and will be travelling with the family.  He has flown many times before but his flight anxiety has really escalated. Thank you

  • No experience of Gatwick, but the best advice I can give you is to contact both Easyjet and Gatwick Airport ahead of your travel to let them know a member of your party is autistic.  I would also strongly suggest you invest in a sunflower lanyard so that airport and airline staff can spot that you may need assistance (they should all know what the sunflower lanyard means - most airports will give them out at check in or the information desk before you go through security, but I would ask for one in advance - supermarkets give them away free too).

When you arrive for check in, tell the airline you need assistance and when you get to security do the same - they will usually send you down the assistance lane to speed things up.  The same goes for passport control on your return - seek out a member of airport staff and explain the situation and they will usually send you down a special lane.  The key thing is to make sure you tell airport staff at all points of the journey that you need assistance.
