Autism friendly hair-dresser - a first!!

I had my hair cut today; nice and short, in a bob. In the past I was not particularly keen on having my hair cut, mainly because of the unwelcome small talk involved, and being in close proximity to another person; although it has always been preferable to the dentist!. But I think I have struck gold dust in the form of an autism friendly hair-dresser.

At  my appointment today, I told the hair dresser I have Asperger's syndrome. She immediately told me that this did not come as a surprise to her, and that I remind her of someone else she knows who is on the spectrum. She also told me that I speak rather fast (even though I was trying hard to speak slowly), which I thought was interesting.  She seemed to detect my Asperger traits intuitively, and seemed to know a lot about it - her nephew is autistic.

Many of her clients are autistic, and I think the hair salon as a whole is autism friendly: it is small, and  the staff are very warm and friendly.

I am very pleased!
