Executive dysfunction

Hi there,

sorry I am posting again, still awaiting diagnostic appointments which the wait is slowly driving me insane.

im wondering what some examples of executive dysfunction are? Id just like to know other peoples experiences, for me missing appointments or muddling days and times up seems to be my biggest issue.

i love watching peoples tik toks On autism I guess because I feel it fits my difficulties.

  • I share your pain - I am in Lancs and had to wait two years from the point of referral to get my formal diagnosis - and only then because I complained to the CCG about the contractor.

I find that if I don't sit down and plan my day before starting work, everything goes out of the window.  I account for every minute so that I know what I am doing, when.

I have started to do the same with special interests at weekends - I find it really helps me to stop procrastinating and actually start doing something!

I don't tend to have much dysfunction these days, but only because I plan everything to the nth degree so I don't find myself in that position.

that is a very reasonable approach

it goes into 4th category for types of masking - accomodation, the only one that doesn't carry the risk of burnout and doesn't demand lots of attention constantly

  • I think it really works for me - and I do quite enjoy planning my days as it gives me something to look forward to.  I would be absolutely lost without a calendar app!
