I'm looking to invest in some ear defenders or noise cancelling headphones as my tolerance for loud noises has really gone down lately.
Would I have to buy autism specialist ones or would the normal builders type ones from b and q work?

Hi, I use Soundcore Q20 noise cancelling ear phones. Can be used just on noise cancelling or obviously link to an iPhone or other to listen to music, I use mine at night to listen to audiobooks. They are about £50 but I think there is a 15% voucher on Amazon at the moment. You can go up to £200 for Bose but I don’t have that budget. Very impressed with the Soundcore and good write ups. You can wear them in public and don’t look out of place.
I dont think I can afford them at the moment, money is quite tight. I am looking to have them more for around the house, my toddler screams so loud when he is having a meltdown or upset about something and I feel I could be much more able to help him if I wasnt getting so destressed by the noise
Do you think ordinary builders ones from B and Q would work?

I have just ordered the yellow screwfix ones, thank you. they looked quite good. I didnt think the red ones looked as comfy.
Yes I understand what you mean about your head going to a point. Mine sort of fizzes and then feels like its going to explode, I kinda picture the mushroom cloud from a nuclear bomb, thats what it feels like
Yes, they will work fine around the house, I wear industrial ear defenders at work as I do a lot of metal grinding and have tinnitus. Get the Screwfix app. they have a good range, I use the yellow ones, they are £7.49, the basic red ones are £3.49. I sometimes go to our village pub, small children can do that shriek that makes the top of your head go to a point, hope this helps.
