Just need someone to talk to

My 5 year old has been diagnosed with autism just last week. I feel like I am trying to process 8 different emotions every few minutes, from guilt, sadness, fear and anxiety, anger and so on.

I just need someone to talk to with a bit of experience, either as a parent or personal experience.

I have been looking online for a week, can't seem to find anything. NAS has a parent to parent that has been turned off, the link they provide for CAS in my borough doesn't work, tried calling numerous numbers and they are either busy, or never pick up.

I just feel like I need to talk to someone. Happy to pay for it if such service exists. Please advise. (I am not suicidal)

  • A warm hello to you.

It is a long journey. I remember being 5 with autism myself, and both our sons when they were 5 as it unfolded there. It might be best to settle in & think composure first if you can, that'll go a long way if you can retain it. Usually the most important adaptations to come are acquired without too much overload. In that sense the dialogues with schools tend to be be different. Then the boys do autism it differently from the girls. For that matter you'll find that in a short time you'd have picked a lot of the jargon, and the useful things to know.

    Kind Regards.
