My daughters application for PIP was turned down,,,unsurprisingly!
I think I read a post here where someone suggested a lady who could be of help when appealing the decision? I may be wrong…
She didn’t score one point! I sat here with her during the video chat to prompt her, and she was highly nervous and somewhat distracted. The report stated she showed no signs of not being able to communicate, nor was she anxious etc… This is going to be tough, she’s extremely articulate. Yet she needs help with a lot. I do what I can, as does her partner, but we all work, and she needs to be self sufficient at some point, and she wants to leave home when she’s financially able.
I was annoyed to hear that she can make a simple meal. Yes, she can do a pot noodle, but is that healthy? She can’t chop without cutting herself, gets burnt forgetting what’s hot in the kitchen, and can’t open lids, use kitchen tools or a knife and fork because of her ADHD and dyspraxia combined. But they were quick to point out that she can play bass guitar Fat unbreakable strings and muscle memory. She’s not having to look and coordinate both hands like you do with fiddly things. They have no concept of how varying Dyspraxia can be. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg…
