Newbie - to diagnose or not to diagnose?

Have been comfortable in my own identity as ‘probably autistic’ for a number of years although never sought formal diagnosis up to now. Apart from anything else, I work in education so know how painfully slow and frustrating the whole experience can be - and that’s for kids. For adults am assuming doubly so.

But having had a panic attack (or meltdown?) last week and been signed off with stress and anxiety, am wondering if pursuing a diagnosis will give me the validation and possibly support that I need. What are other people’s experiences?

Looking forward to getting to know ‘my tribe’ and being kinder to and more accepting of myself!
