Can anyone recommend a good therapist?

Hi,

I've been quiet on this forum for a while, but I got an autism diagnosis last month.  Thanks so much to everyone who supported me during the process of seeking a diagnosis.  I really appreciate it very much.

I'm looking for a therapist to help me overcome some friendship/relationship problems and to talk a bit about my diagnosis, as I've been in a difficult place since then.  There are lots of therapists out there and it's really difficult to know who to choose.  I thought I would ask for some personal recommendations.  Have any of you been to see a therapist who's really helped you, who has a good understanding of autism?  I'd be really grateful for any suggestions, either here or by private message.

Many thanks

  • Yes, it is great. It is written directly for us as the autistic community. Even though Luke Beardon is not autistic, his understanding and depth of knowledge is amazing. I liked it so much, I highlighted certain sections because I thought they were very useful.

    Autism + Environment = Outcome

This book is based around his golden equation and throughout the book he gives examples of reasonable adjustments that would make environments more autistic friendly.

This book helped me understand and could really help other autistic people understand that anxiety doesn’t have to be part of everyday life if your environment suits your neurology.

I hope you find this book as useful as I did.

Overcoming Anxiety and Depression on the Autism Spectrum, by Lee A Wilkinson.

This seems interesting, I shall do some research.
