Can anyone recommend a good therapist?

Hi,

I've been quiet on this forum for a while, but I got an autism diagnosis last month.  Thanks so much to everyone who supported me during the process of seeking a diagnosis.  I really appreciate it very much.

I'm looking for a therapist to help me overcome some friendship/relationship problems and to talk a bit about my diagnosis, as I've been in a difficult place since then.  There are lots of therapists out there and it's really difficult to know who to choose.  I thought I would ask for some personal recommendations.  Have any of you been to see a therapist who's really helped you, who has a good understanding of autism?  I'd be really grateful for any suggestions, either here or by private message.

Many thanks

  • I'm finding out about both neurotypical and neurodivergent therapists at the moment.  I'm not sure which would be best.  On the one hand, an autistic therapist would understand me better.  But a neurotypical therapist might be able to help me understand the neurotypical perspective, and learn ways to be able to integrate better and perhaps make fewer mistakes in the social environment.
