Time to stop working.

Hi everyone.

My sister is diagnosed with Asperger's.

She is high functioning and has always worked, but over the past few years, stresses of life and driving have become difficult.

Work is also becoming very hard for her.

We're literally at the end of the road and she needs to stop driving and working, for her own wellbeing.

She gets the higher rate of pip - Any advice please on possible income top-ups like Universal Credit?

I'm hoping she can remain independent in her home, with her current small mortgage.

Thanks in advance,

Ruth J

  • If this is the case she may be entitled to Universal credit standard rate of around £340 plus an additional £320 after being assessed for limited capability group, so basically receive £660 a month. the assessment wait times are around a year and it like £50 a week after a 5 week wait for first payment.

Your local authority may be able to signpost to an organization like 'welfare rights' , a charity that works with people to fill out benefit forms and advises people on what's available to claim.

you may also want to look into a needs assessment.
