Recent Diagnosis at 28 - Help

Hi, I recently got diagnosed with Autism and I am not coping with it as well as I thought I would. I am 28, so it’s news I didn’t realise I would be receiving this late. I presumed I would feel relief or happiness, instead I am feeling very confused and a little angry. I am just wanting to connect with other people like me as I don’t have any friends due to being not social and feeling so difficult from “normal” people.

  • I was diagnosed last year at 38.  I think it's normal to take some time to adjust to the diagnosis and what it means to you.  For quite a  long time after diagnosis, I would suddenly look at particular past events or experiences in a new light now that I knew that I was on the spectrum.  And I think it's understandable to have conflicting emotions about it too.
