Safe, go to food.

Just something lighthearted for today. Does anyone else have a food that they can always go to when they are stressed and need comforting? That food which you know you can tolerate and love.

Mine is always tomato soup with a strong cheddar cheese grated on top. One crusty roll heated in the oven. Heaven.

  • I've always been a stress eater and find comfort in food. For me I have had a lot of success in changing my day to day habits, but big stressful events still send me flying off my good habits, back into binging on things I know I shouldn't.

    I just got laid off today and have been trying very cancerously to avoid using food to comfort myself, but I feel very close to breaking down and shoving 2,000 calories of Taco Bell in my mouth. What are some of things you all do to comfort yourself outside of food? Any tips or suggestions appreciated.

  • I struggle with comfort eating too. Music is the other thing that really helps, or watching calming videos of animals or ducks
