Safe, go to food.

Just something lighthearted for today. Does anyone else have a food that they can always go to when they are stressed and need comforting? That food which you know you can tolerate and love.

Mine is always tomato soup with a strong cheddar cheese grated on top. One crusty roll heated in the oven. Heaven.

Parents
  • Arroz rojo (red rice), a Spanish/Mexican dish, fried rice with onion, garlic and lots of of tomato (plus chorizo or bacon, if you want). I'm not of Spanish descent, but my parents repeatedly toured Spain in a camper van in the 1950s, so I grew up with lots of Spanish-influenced dishes. It reminds me of my childhood. My wife hates tomato, so I tend to make it for me and my daughters when my wife is not going to be home.
