I'm gonna die without help

Please help me with house

Parents
  • I'm sorry but to understand this post I just had to do a deep dive into your posting history so for the benefit of every one else let me summarise what I think the facts are and I invite you to correct me if I get anything wrong.

    • Your father who used to provide you with a great deal of care and emotional support recently died.
    • You are unemployed.
    • You now live alone and have little to no contact with others in your wider family / local community.
    • Your mental state has deteriorated and you've been contacted by a mental health team who've passed your case on to second team that's tried to visit you in your house.
    • You're dissatisfied with the help you're offered from the team that visits you but the original team on the phone won't respond to you.
    • Your house has become very messy as you've, quite understandably, lost the mental energy to clean it regularly. This causes you considerable anxiety.
    • You're finding it difficult to cook / eat regularly and consequently are not eating enough.
    • The mental health team that visits you wants you to take anti depressants but isn't offering you any practical help with your cleaning / food prep?

Does that sound about right as a description of your situation?

Under normal circumstances I'd advise you to ring the NAS helpline as a first port of call. But I'd been closed and isn't reopening any time soon. I'd say your case is fairly serious and urgent and given your difficulty communicating (all of these one line zero context posts) I think it would be ideal if you could have a single point of contact you could turn to for help. Unfortunately it looks like you need help with both mental health care (the governments responsibility) and social care (the councils responsibility). Your MP can help you with issues with the NHS mental health team. For issues with your social care needs it would be appropriate to contact your local councillor. I suggest you go to your mp first as they tend to hold regular in person drop in meetings. I think it might be easier for them to understand you in person. You can then ask your MPs advice about the NHS and also how to get in touch with your councillor.

  • Peter this is a wonderful post - I hope that Steve can take time to read this and fully take what you’ve written here on board and do what you suggest. When we feel overwhelmed it’s hard to see a positive way forward and it’s  so helpful to have someone from ‘outside’ who can look at our situation rationally and suggest practical steps that are achievable. I hope this helps.
