Emotional dysregulation/catastrophising

Does anyone have any good strategies for a university student prone to catastrophising? For example, my first choice of semester modules was unavailable and my tutor asked me to rethink my selection. My immediate reaction was soaring anxiety, the belief that I would never be able to complete the new module satisfactorily and that I would have to give up the entire course. I realised later that I had given a knee-jerk response and that I had been too tired to contemplate the prospect of change. Unfortunately, these responses are typical due to the heady mix of Asperger's and ADHD. Are there any good visual prompts to keep me on an even keel?
