Meltdown recovery

Hey,

Today I had a major meltdown and I'm feeling very spaced out now and very drained. I rarely deal with meltdowns normally I experience more shutdowns. I was wondering if anyone has some advice on how best to recover and feel better?

I have a weighted blanket and I've put my hood up but I am a single parent and I still have to function this evening make dinner and do a bath and bedtime routine etc. My kid is old enough to know and understand that I'm autistic but not old enough to make a meal or bath themself and put themself to bed.

Warm wishes,

  • Self talk helps me. Like being kind and saying to myself that It's understandable to feel angry and helpless when this or that happens. My husband says that works for him too. I just make sure I'm kind to him and give him time and space to feel good again. Maybe you could do that for yourself as well? Are there any stims that help you feel better like rocking or a soft fabric?
