Diagnosis Confirmed

So I had a telephone consultation this morning with the doctor who has been assessing me since last August and she confirmed I meet the criteria for an autism diagnosis, so she has given me that diagnosis.

It wasn't a surprise, but it did come as a shock when I thought back to school days and what might have been the case there if I had had a diagnosis then (I'm 45 now).  This diagnosis does explain a lot that has happened in my life, and from what I've read about it that's pretty common.

On the one hand I feel as if I've joined some sort of secret society type thing and on the other I'm feeling like I've been living a lie almost.

  • Hello and congratulations on your diagnosis. It’s interesting to be able to look back on confusing moments in life and offer an explanation or part of an explanation. I’ve found that I’m being a little more forgiving of myself since my diagnosis, but I understand that there is a journey ahead of me. Best of luck with everything.
