Stimming and comfort

Does anyone do what I call apeing, I’ve always loved to lean my head to one side and put my right arm over my head so it touches my left ear and clasp my left hand. I often tap my right heel at a fast rate as well. It just seems to calm me. I thought when realising that I am autistic that I had cracked it, The truth is that I’m still on page one of the none existent instruction manual.

  • I tend to wring or flap my hands a lot to calm myself. Until my knees started playing up, I used to jump up and down as if I were a kid. I still do it a bit, but with bending rather than jumping. I've never done it in front of anyone though, so if I need a release I have to find somewhere to be alone. I didn't know it was stimming until very recently, just thought I was a bit odd. I am also trying to understand the none existent instruction manual :)
