  • Dear Mat,

I am so sorry you are going through this and so sorry you are waiting so long for some support. But I am glad your mother seems to be on your side at least.

I wish I had some magic answers for you, but I don't. I did want you to know that you are so not alone though. Many of us do not get the support we need or deserve. Please know you are one amongst many and we send you good thoughts. I too am being passed between social care and mental health.

You may struggle to communicate in some ways but you write eloquently by the way. And you are brave for standing up to the system like that. You may be helping other people too by doing so.

I am really sorry you feel like you wish you had not been diagnosed, but what I can say to you is this: being autistic or ADHD is in no way whatsoever a defect of you as a person. You are perfect as you are. What is difficult for us is having to live in a world that does not understand  or accomodate to our differences. That strain upon us can cause mental health issues. But it doesn't have to be this way. When we are supported with the difficulties, the mental and emotional stress can go away and we can start to enjoy being who we truely are.

I hope the services get their act together for you and start giving you the right support to live the life you want to live. You deserve a life. You deserve to enjoy being you.

If you have questions, ask them here. Some one here will recognise the experience, some of us may have found solutions. But you are not alone. And we are here.
