Some autism related jokes...

I had to go and get some sticky labels, but on the way I realised people had been giving them to me for years and really didn't need any more.

Its annoying when you go shopping and forget something, you know, like the fact that you don't do shopping.

Annoying when people buy you an irritating jumper that you just can't can wear, the patterns on these things can be hideous.

I got a dog from a rescue place, it had been through a lot - lovely dog, but it didn't like loud noises, or going out, was stressed by other dogs, and hated the tight collar.  Turns out its an autistic dog, what are the chances?

Wet socks, can be really difficult to ignore - I can't fix this leak until I've got dry socks on.

My therapist said I do much too much thinking! I think I need to go away and think about that.

Funny how you can completely miss alarm bells, yet triggered by every car alarm.

  • Obsessive thinking usually fills spare time, if we let it, take a break now and then and do something without thinking while you do it - challenge the urge to think.

  • Oh I see... I had no idea it wasn't like that for everyone. My brain is always obsessing and thinking about something...

  • Most people have thoughts that come and go, but autistic people can think a lot more, waves of thoughts that are hard to stop, or thought-loops that are impossible for them to stop.

Its healthy to think about things you need to, but too much is not good even if we don't realise.

If you spend less time thinking, you can spend more time doing.

Some people talk a lot, reading aloud their thoughts, that can be unhelpful to them - not getting as much done as they could.

    Its finding a balance.

  • The thinking joke reminds me of something a psychologist asked me last week- She asked me how many hours a day I spend thinking about things.... I was very confused about this question at first but now I think it is hilarious. I am always thinking/obsessing about something- the idea that it would just be a set hours a day seems incomprehensible to me.
