Hello everyone!
I don't really know how to write these posts so I'll get straight to the point.
Basically, I was given a provisional diagnosis of autism back in 2009 when I was 7. They tested me for many other conditions but given me the autism diagnosis as that fitted and described most of my symptoms. I was meant to have a re-assessment 2 years later but that never took place because I moved to a different area.
In 2019, I was seen by a professional at CAHMS who wanted to briefly look into my autism. They never done a reassessment. We mainly just discussed symptoms I currently had and how I'm doing in life. Within 2 minutes of talking to him, he said "I think its mild but I'd say you're definitely on the spectrum". So they wrote a report saying that they feel it isnt clinically indicated to question my 2009 diagnosis.
Now I know I'm definitely autistic, but I've recently been questioning whether my original diagnosis is valid. My original diagnosis is a provisional diagnosis which means I fit the criteria but more investigation is needed. I know professionals in 2019 said they think I'm autistic, and wrote a report to confirm this, but I'm not sure if this will be accepted if ever I seek support for my autism.
What would you recommend? Shall I just accept this as my diagnosis (is it even a valid diagnosis). Or shall I speak to my GP? I have been thinking about getting that re--assessment I never had but I do feel I'll be wasting time as it's a high chance they'll diagnose me with autism anyway.
Any advice will be appreciated.
