Results day

Good afternoon,

had my ADOS-2 on Monday. Really struggled with it and found whole ordeal awkward and uncomfortable. At the end he said he’s certain I have ADHD just from observing me and was writing a recommendation to my GP for treatment. Does anyone know what this is and how long it takes?

I get my result of whether I have ASD today and I’m an absolute bag of nerves. I feel like my entire life is about to change. Did anyone else feel like this?

  • Hi Bex!

I also incredibly nervous about the result. Once I started to read up on autism, my whole life just made sense. Years of not understanding why I am the way I am were resolved almost immediately. I was really worried about being plunged back into the unknown.

All I would say is that even if you don't get a diagnosis, it doesn't mean you aren't autistic. The diagnostic criteria are most sensitive to autistic people in distress and the diagnostic process is not perfect - it never can be when it is based on behavioural criteria.

If you feel comfortable, do let me know how you get on with the result Slight smile

  • Hey!

thanks for the reply. So I’ve not long had a call off my psychologist who said there was enough evidence for a diagnosis and also significant indicators for ADHD!

I feel immediately relieved. And like you, my world all of a sudden makes sense. Feel like I’ve experienced some kind of rebirth as crazy as that sounds!

I'm really pleased to hear that you are relieved and are thinking about it positively. Just from my own experience the whole 'rebirth' metaphor is not as crazy at it may seem.
