On a 2 years waiting list for a diagnosis.

It's frustrating being 28 and only finding out now that I'm very likely to be autistic. It explains so many awkward moments in my life and why I'm hypersensitive to pretty much everything. I have childhood PTSD as well combined with grief from my stepdad dying from cancer in August 2020.

I have been long-term unemployed for a number of years and am trying to better myself in recovery but without the adequate support... It's truly difficult. I'm also on a two year waiting list for EMDR.

  • EMDR is actually very helpful (in my experience). So helpful that I only needed four sessions! If you are able, it might be worth considering looking for a private therapist because mine offered a reduction for those who are unemployed so it was only £20 per session and as I say it’s a very short term therapy. Also because the eye movement is the mechanism by which it functions, you can also self administer EMDR. After all, the woman who discovered it did so by self administration. There’s many guides on YouTube for example, it might be worth trying as it doesn’t actively do any damage if it fails
