How do you keep yourself safe?

Hi, I'm new here so apologies if I make a mistake. I don't even quite know how to get across what I mean in my question but I will try. 

I cannot tell the motivations, intentions, or meaning behind what people say, I find it hard to tell when someone is lying, it doesn't even occur to me to think of their agenda, and I struggle to recognise dangers of being ripped off or being taken advantage of in exchanges with people providing a service or selling me something. It leaves me feeling quite vulnerable and I avoid it, and when I have to do it I just accept that I'm going to be ripped off. Does anyone else experience this? Has anyone learned anything about how to handle these situations better and keep themselves safe?

  • The key thing to remember is the word "no", closely followed by the phrase "fk off and leave me alone". 

    Seriously, using common sense when approaching these situations is something you should do and learn to ignore people or say "no, im not interested".  Never sign anything, until you read all the small print or at least have the basic of it down.

    I honestly don't go anywhere near these situations anymore.  I avoid people almost all the time unless I know them.  I especially avoid going anywhere with market researchers and sales people.  If I do get accosted by someone I politely tell them i'm not interested, if that doesnt work I tell them to "fk off" and am happy to take it to the next level if required.  Most people will move on to an easier target.
